Grete Wendt designed this enchanting spring-inspired music box in 1956 – much later than most of the other music boxes which originated in the 1920s and 30s. The timelessness of her composition fascinates to the present day – a masterpiece of figurative design. The 36-tone Swiss music work rings out a classic melody from the elaborately turned body of the music box, its pastoral green calling to mind fresh spring meadows. And when you let the two dancers twirl away to their heart’s content under the pearly beads of the arch, you’ll be hard pressed not to join in with a lively step or two yourself.
